Numerics of Partial Differential Equations

RESEARCH FOCUS: Our research focus is in numerical analysis and scientific computing of partial differential equations. We are developing and analyzing mesh-free discretization methods for highly oscillatory evolution equations, in particular for high dimensional quantum systems. The above plots show recent results for laser induced dynamics of the HD molecule (joint work with Ludwik Adamowicz, Simen Kvaal, Thomas B. Pedersen). The time-dependent Schrödinger equation that describes the physical process is solved by using mesh-free gaussian basis functions in nine space dimensions.
